Dipping my toes in the water


I guess you can probably tell, this is my first game and my first devlog here. I'm not totally sure of the entire process, but the only way to do it, is to do it.

So, I challenged myself Friday night to make a game from scratch over the course of one weekend. So Saturday morning, I decided to modernize an old classic from my childhood. So, I made this asteroid clone. By Sunday night I had a playable game. Challenge accepted, mission accomplished. So I figured I've been wanting to publish games, and here I am

The product I had Sunday night was playable, but not perfectly polished. So here it is Monday night and today I beefed up the alien bullets and put in some volumetric lighting and adjusted the skybox and added a rolling starfield, and a credits and help screens, and now I think I have something that may be worth putting in front of people. I don't want to go too crazy with features - this is a very simple game with a very simple feature set. As was the original. I don't want to stray too far from that. So the features are locked as they are, and now in Beta testing. My sons will be trying to break it, and make it glitch out. So far so good.

Hopefully this week we'll all be satisfied that this game is ready to publish and I'll do that. Can't wait to hear from you.
